Collection: Stout/Porter
Stout is a rich, dark beer with intense flavours and a creamy texture.
Modern-day porter's flavour is most often described as “burnt” or “highly roasted,” though nutty, chocolatey, and coffee-like are also mentioned. It tends to be more well-hopped than ale, dry and full-bodied with a mild malt overtone.
Originally, stout was a type of porter on the high alcohol volume end of the spectrum. But with time, the brewing processes deviated from one another. Porters were brewed using roasted barley, while stouts were made using mix of roasted and un malted barley.
These days the terms stout and porter are used by different breweries almost interchangeably to describe dark beers, and have more in common than in distinction.
